On αγαπη

The word αγαπη (accented on the second syllable) means love or strong affection. It has no connotation of anything emotionally overwhelming, but it is a strong word all the same. It is close in meaning to φιλια (accented on the second syllable) which according to the examples in the dictionaries tends to interchange with it, but philia is emotionally weaker than agapê and definitely not overwhelming or even perturbing.
