Counting the Stars and Fruit on the Throne of St. Mark
There are 50 stars, as would be expected. Back 19, right 22, left 9. Division: back 7 + 5 + 7; right 8 + 3 + 3 + 5 + 3; left 3 + 3 + 3. Only the right is unsymmetrical. The unsymmetrical nos. are 8 and 5. I think some of the stars are meant to be different sizes. Meaning: 19 is the no. of years in a calendar cycle in respect of intercalation I think. 22 is obvious. 9 might be the ninth vision. If the 22 and the 9 are taken together they say turn numbers into letters to find the ninth vision. In that case, the 19 might mean turn the days into years using the nineteen-year cycle.
There are 13 fruit on the tree on the tree on the back. Going anticlockwise from the bottom right the numbers on each branch are 2 3 1 2 1 4 (or 2 2 2 2 1 4) You will have to use two pictures at once to see it. In terms of letters this is Bet Gimel Alef Bet Alef Dalet (or Bet Bet Bet Bet Alef Dalet). The second division is more symmetrical. But why the division of 7 into 2 1 4? Are we to read 6 = 2 + 2 + 2 and 7 = 2 + 1 + 4? But why?
