On the Transfiguration and Mt Gerizim
A bit more from the same document. The Beatitudes, the Decalogue of the New Torah, were delivered to the crowd on the plain just after choosing twelve out of his disciples for a special role. This was done just after receiving the New Torah. I add that the twelve must correspond to the twelve tribes of the New Congregation and New Israel. The first Israel became a holy congregation and Moses became King upon the reception of the first Torah. See Deuteronomy XXXIII at the start with its Samaritan traditional exegesis, and disregard the modern translations. The mountain was Mt. Tabor. I add that THIS IDENTIFICATION AGREES WITH CURRENT LOCAL TRADITION. The mountain could not logically be Mt. Gerizim, because Mt. Gerizim derives its status from the Torah and can’t be the place of reception of the Torah, old or new. Tabor is the new Sinai. Hagar is a mountain in Arabia. The New Sinai is in the Holy Land. Elijah went to Mt. Horeb. Does this mean Mt. Tabor even in that context? It says in this passage that Jesus went up “a mountain” but in the case of the Transfiguration it says “a high Mountain”, that is, Mt. Gerizim.
ADDITIONAL NOTE:
Is it only a coincidence that the numerical value of T.abor (T.BWR) is 217, one more than H.orev is H.WRB, 216?
