Que La Vie Est Bête ...
The weekend has officially started so I wanted to close the week with an uncanny story which underscores the fragility of existence. CNN reports that Andy Kessler was a fearless skateboarded who performed death defying feats almost on a daily basis. You couldn't get more fearless than Andy. His courage rivaled that of a lion.
Then in one fell swoop the lion was brought down by - of all things - an insect. It sounds like one of Aesop's fables but it really happened today.
It doesn't make sense other than to remind us how vulnerable we are to arbitrariness of fate.
Saying he died too young doesn't do justice to this. Nor does dismissively stating that 'it could have been any of us.' The truth is that it IS going to be us one of these days.
We just haven't been attacked by our fate ... yet.
Have a good weekend!
