The Redemption Ritual in Earliest Christianity

These dopes don't realize that there is a traditional Jewish ritual called the pinyon ha-ben which essentially identifies all firstborn males need to be 'purchased at a price.'

Irenaeus tells us that there were Christians 'of Mark' who read Mark x.38 to argue that Jesus 'redeemed' either John or James or both of them.

Then the Apostle chimes in and makes clear that the pinyon ha-ben ritual was developed from this original gospel narrative to become the paradigm for the whole Christian community:

for you are bought with the price; therefore glorify Aloha in your body and in your spirit, which are of Aloha. (1Corinthians 6:20 Peshitta)

What is the matter with these people? Did they think that the Apostle just invented this idea out of his own imagination? He knew the true gospel. I happen to think the story was from the gospel - the secret gospel of Mark.

The Marcionites didn't have the bit about John baptizing Jesus - John is introduced 'suddenly' according to Tertullian later in the narrative. As such THIS is the 'redemption' baptism is the only baptism narrative in the Marcionite gospel.
