More Curious Passages in Origen

Who is the man who does not even have one covering on his flesh, who is naked, who is covered with no garment at all? I do not mean by this that generosity and pity toward the poor and even extravagant clemency are not commanded us so that we should clothe the naked with our spare tunic. I say this rather because this passage can be understood more profoundly. We should give a tunic who has none at all. Who is the man who does not have a tunic? It is he who utterly lacks God. Therefore we should divest ourselves and give to him that is who is naked. One has God; the other does not have God at all [Homily on Luke 23]

Whoever has not 'put on Jesus Christ' (Rom 13:14) is naked [citation]
