On the Marcionite "Corruptions" of Luke

Most of these "corruptions" can be explained as variations of western readings of Mark. Tertullian identifies Mark 1:1 as the first words of the Marcionite gospel just as Origen infers the long ending (the enthronement) of Mark as the conclusion of the Marcionite text.

The evidence is overwhelming that the Marcionite gospel wasn't just a Diatessaron but a Diatessaron-like gospel "according to Mark." Hippolytus and Megethius in Adamantius' Dialogue also infer a connection with Mark. Marqioni means "those of Mark" in Aramaic and the Marcionites continued in Aramaic speaking lands until the rise of Islam.

Do the math ...
