Someone Bought Me A Present
My wife never knows what to get me for Christmas. Last year, I think I got an electric toothbrush. The year before that - underwear.
One of my best friends said he sent me a belated Christmas present - VIkram Karveit's The Origins of the Samaritans. Now that's more like it! Much better than a toothbrush, much better than underwear.
Kartveit is Professor of Old Testament at Stavanger in Norway. (I don’t mean the debased American meaning of professor, according to which all staff at universities are called professor. I mean a REAL Professor).
The book is much more comprehensive and varied than the title would suggest, but Karveit doesn’t go beyond the second c. AD. Can't wait to read it.
