Another Curious Statement in Severus of Al'Ashmunein About the Gospel of Mark

Then the Gospel of Mark, which he wrote in Greek, while Peter, chief of the apostles, was with him, and which was read in the assembly of the princes[Severus History of the Patriarchs of the Coptic Church i.4]

The reference is hard to explain unless the Gospel and Mark himself was known to the rulers of Rome.
