A Reader Found a Coin Which Draws Attention to Something I Wrote About Last Month
A reader wrote to me to support my observation that the original post noting that an identification based on the Aramaic word for 'Africa' could be mistakenly taken to mean 'Phrygia' (a point which has deep significance when developing a theory about the origins of the Montanists who were originaly identified as 'Phrygians' even though Tertullian, the north African Church Father is the only historical 'Phrygian' we ever come across. A reader from Spain sent me a photo (left) and the following note:
Mr. Huller:
I have see your note about Africa, and I give you my arxive for share my reading of this ancient hebrew written transliterated into modern. People in the past didn’t write in 12-point Times New Roman, you need decipher the non latin language.
My proposal for vocalize them [qéres qaw apyrqa sadat sájal sájor et egeo].
As you can comprove this could be a location "apyrq", [aprica], Africa, and the mention of domination [sajat sájal sajor] of the black lion, or the black Sajel, the dessert of Sahhara?, could been interpreted as a militar victory against african people in the Egeo Sea.
Obverse [za gíaj nagapet pedut nyapah].
Here, you have the roman hebrew alephat compared as reduced phoenician. In my opinion, first thing we need it´s to have a good transcription, each symbol transcripted without confusion or mistakes; at this time it´s ususal to change design in transcription, confusing A x H, and here is one exemple of this manipulation and finally we need transliterate into their language, and recognize their language, transcription isn´t transliteration.
Our romaion alephat has 20 different letters, and obviously that isn´t latin alphabet. It´s impossible to write in latin with 4 supossed vowels (AEIO), without waw. It´s a crazy idea to write latin with 20 letters, doesn´t exist that literature in the history of latin language.
If I want start transcription VICTORIAE, it´s cause I need to have a latin word, and VICTORIHE, doesn´t exist in latin; and the next one word it´s similar wrong transcripted LAETAE, instead the real LHETHE.
Exergue [raqa], x "rqo", means coin.
I would include this note in your web, but I´m not able to insert photography on it.
Regards from Benidorm, Antonio García Hurtado.
