"The Right to Keep and Bear Arms"

I wonder when the bomb-collectors are going to demand the right to assemble an unlimited stockpile of all sorts of explosive devices as 'the right to bear arms' depends on a word with a very broad meaning:

arms - A weapon, especially a firearm: troops bearing arms; ICBMs, bombs, and other nuclear arms.

Did the 'Founding Fathers' limit the meaning of arms to hunting weapons?  Of course not.  But at the same time it certainly included heavy battle weapons.  So because the Founding Fathers wanted to establish decentralized militias almost three centuries ago it still makes sense today?  Because the Founding Fathers accepted slavery that means that it never should have been abolished?  Idiotic.
