Is Matthew 7:19 a Loose Translation of Deuteronomy 20:20?
ἀλλὰ ξύλον ὃ ἐπίστασαι ὅτι οὐ καρπόβρωτόν ἐστιν τοῦτο ἐξολεθρεύσεις καὶ ἐκκόψεις
Every tree which bringeth not forth fruit good to eat thou shalt cut down; and thou shalt make it into stakes against the city which shall make war upon them [Matthew 7:19]
πὰν δένδρον μὴ ποιοῦν καρπὸν καλὸν ἐκκόπτεται
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. [Deuteronomy 20:20]
