On the Term 'Essene'

I can’t locate my little booklet of primary sources on the Essenes and Therapeuts. Please let me know where you got the information on the Latin version of Philo. As to the identification with the Essenes, I don’t know of any tradition. It might be a plausible guess. On the other hand, in my unpublished monograph A Pair of Ancient Samaritan Eschatologies, which you have, I showed that the term Essene could be used by ANY group claiming to be led by a LEGITIMATE AND PIOUS High Priest.
