My Saying of the Day

Most bad scholarship does not arise from a lack of research but rather an absence of Fingerspitzengefühl. And the sad part is that instinct can't be taught or unlearned. This explains all the misguided scholarship. Those without instinct drive away those who possess this ineffable 'something else.' There's nothing they can do to stop themselves. It's in their very soul. By their very nature, at the core of their very being, the mediocre lack Fingerspitzengefühl and as we are taught, the mediocre will have dominion over the world and scholarship too ...
