17. Irenaeus writes that the Marcosians said that it was
"for this reason did Moses declare that man was formed on the sixth day; and then, again, according to arrangement, it was on the sixth day, which is the preparation, that the last man appeared, for the regeneration of the first, Of this arrangement, both the beginning and the end were formed at that sixth hour, at which He was nailed to the tree." [AH i.14.6]
Clement of Alexandria writes that
"Wherefore also man is said to have been made on the sixth day, who became faithful to Him who is the sign (episimon), so as straightway to receive the rest of the Lord's inheritance. Some such thing also is indicated by the sixth hour in the scheme of salvation, in which man was perfected." [Stromata vi.6]
