48. Irenaeus writes of the Marcosians that "they may establish their false opinion regarding that which is written, "to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord," maintain that He preached for one year only, and then suffered in the twelfth month ... and He preached only one year reckoning from His baptism on completing His thirtieth year." [AH ii.12.5]Clement of Alexandria writes "thirty, or as in some, twelve, they say points out the preaching [of the Gospel]; because the Lord preached in His thirtieth year; and the apostles were twelve." [Stromata vi.11]
"The three hundred and sixty (i.e. 30 x 12) bells, suspended from the robe, is the space of a year, “the acceptable year of the Lord,” proclaiming and resounding the stupendous manifestation of the Saviour." [ibid v.6]
