The Thirty First Proof that Clement of the Alexandrian See of St. Mark Was a Prominent Leader of the Tradition Irenaeus Identifies as 'Marcosian'

31. Irenaeus writes that the Marcosians "maintain that the long robe of the priest failing over his feet, as being adorned with four rows of precious stones, indicates the Tetrad." [AH i.18.1]

Clement of Alexandria writes "the twelve stones, set in four rows on the breast, describe for us the circle of the zodiac, in the four changes of the year." [Stromata vi.11]
