The Twenty Eighth Proof that Clement of the Alexandrian See of St. Mark Was a Prominent Leader of the Tradition Irenaeus Identifies as 'Marcosian'

28. Irenaeus writes that the Marcosians hold that "the sun also, who runs through his orbit in twelve months, and then returns to the same point in the circle, makes the Duodecad manifest by these twelve months; and the days, as being measured by twelve hours, are a type of the invisible Duodecad." [AH i.17.1]

Clement of Alexandria writes that certain arithmetic principles are demonstrated by "the twelve cubits, agreeably to the revolution of the twelve months, in the annual circle, during which the earth produces and matures all things." [Stromata vi.11]
