I was trying to go to sleep tonight when another email came in. Someone who claims to know the situation at Brown University in the 1980s just told me that Horst Moehring was not the chair of the Religious Studies department. Sumner B. Twiss was the Chair of the Department of Religious Studies from 1979 - 1982. He was replaced John P. Reeder, Jr. and who is now Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies at Brown. His resume states that he was Chair of the Department of Religious Studies, Brown University, February-September, 1974; 1982-1992.
