Delving into Neusner's Departure from Brown [Part Three]

I received an email yesterday giving me the name of someone with more information.   I called the number and found out a number of other things, only some of which I will discuss here:
  1. in the 1980s Neusner left the Department of Religious Studies for something called 'Judaic Studies'
  2. my source says that he was very difficult to work ('challenging') and was prone to get into fights with coworkers.  I was told this was on the public record and given a number of references to back this up.
  3. he wrote other articles condemning the state of education before the publication of the Price of Excellence in 1995 and was directed where to find these articles.
Neusner sounds again like a very passionate individual who might well have been only mirroring what was going on in the popular culture at the time (remember Harold Bloon's Closing of the American Mind?).  We will have to see where all of this leads.
