Mark—an Egyptian and an Alexandrian—having preached; the Gospel according to him, dictated by Peter, he wrote in Rome. He fell asleep in Egypt, having lived among the ‘Capeitoi’ (as the text spells it). He is buried in Alexandria, in the Boukoloi, at the place of martyrdom, together with Ouktaros, the protomartyr ‘in Lycos’, whom Alexander denounced and killed—where also lie all the bishops before Theonas. Mark the Evangelist, having preached the Gospel of the Lord to the Alexandrians and to all the surrounding region, as far as the Pentapolis, is buried in Alexandria in the Boukoloi (the ‘Cattle-pens/Boukolos’ district), together with Iktaros, the protomartyr in Lycos—whom Alexander brought down and placed there—where all the bishops lie.

He “fell asleep” (died) in Egypt, after living “in the (place) of Capito/Capitonis.” He is buried in Alexandria, in the Bucolis, at the martyrium, together with Victor, who was the first martyr in the city of Tico; Alexander brought Victor and placed him there—and all the bishops before Theonas lie there as well.
