Highlights Of The Last Three Months

I really only started actively blogging in June of this year. However it was at that time that I dumped a number of email correspondences between myself and one of the greatest authorities in the world on things Semitic - Dr Ruairidh Boid (Principles of Samaritan Halachah). I really think - or indeed know - that my seeming lifelong friendship with him is what separates me from all the other fools out there will silly theories about the origins of Christianity. (I just happened to a someone that has a stupid theory about Christianity which was scrutinized top to bottom and back to top again by a genius).

Anyway the numbers of page views are going up and up on this blog so I wanted to make a top ten list of stories that I have developed here in the last three months which you might have missed but should know about:

10. Harry Tzalas On The Location of The Lost Church of St. Mark of Alexandria It is amazing how insipid most discussions about Clement's Letter to Theodore are. We will come back to this time and time again but for the moment let us emphasize that everyone has seen the reference to St. Mark leaving "his composition to the church in Alexandria, where it even yet is most carefully guarded" why hasn't anyone bothered to notice that when the Venetian sailors stole the relics of St. Mark from Alexandria 828 CE they claim to have brought over the autographed original copy of the Gospel of Mark to Venice? Could Morton Smith have known this? If so why didn't he or anyone there after bother to search out where the church of St. Mark was which was plundered by the Venetians and mentioned in the letter to Theodore?

I happened to have done extensive interviewing of a native Alexandrian underwater researcher who has written extensively on the location of this church. Harry Tzalas, is an exceptionally interesting individual who brings to life the Alexandrian Christian tradition in a unique manner. Use the search engine at the top of the page and enter his last name 'Tzalas' to see my ongoing interview with him or go directly to this parallel discussion of the location of the Martyrium of St. Mark from the Passio Petri.

9. Why did the heretics identify Jesus as 'Chrestos' rather than 'Christos'? There are countless references to the Marcionite rejection of the title 'messiah' for Jesus. He was NOT the messiah of the Old Testament. Scholars have never been up to the task of figuring out why the Marcionites reject this title - in my mind because they themselves don't want to question their own presuppositions. I have come up with a solution. It finally explains why Paul think that XC was present at the Exodus. Let me know what you think ...

8. Was There a Gnostic Subtext to the 'King of the Jews' Sign? I doubt many New Testament scholars have any idea that how many Muslims out there actually believe that the gospel teaches that Judas rather than Christ was crucified on the Cross. I came into contact with this understanding when I went to Kenya. I have come across it time and again in my many encounters with Muslims. I wondered - can there be something to it? Here is what Ruairidh Boid added to the discussion. Use the search engine and follow the argument by typing 'Judas,' 'Jew' or 'Pilate.'

7. The Samaritan Messiah Marcus the Son of Titus I know most New Testament scholars have little if any knowledge about Marqe (sometimes spelled Marqah or Marqeh) yet he is absolutely critical to my theory. The fact that I have Ruairidh Boid to help guide me through the complexities of the Samaritan tradition is extremely fortuitous. Just enter the name 'Marqe' in the search engine and take advantage of this greatest of authorities on the Samaritans.

6. Marcion as Mark The idea that Marcion was really St. Mark in a purely 'heretical' form is the hallmark of my theory. See if I can convince you. Type 'Marcion' in the search engine and see what I have come up with ...

5. On the Gnostic System of Marcus the Heretic I have developed a proof elsewhere that 'Marcus the Gnostic' in the writings of Irenaeus was really St. Mark of Clement's Alexandrian Church. I happened to stumble upon an article written in the nineteenth century which made a passing reference to what I discovered. I will blog about this in the future but please take the time to take a look at some of what I have discovered about this second century kabbalistic system.

4. P52 is not Necessarily Proof for the Antiquity of the Canonical Gospel of John. Follow my argument that it might be a fragment of the Diatessaron by typing P52 in the blog search engine.

3. Finding the Throne of St. Mark in Clement's Letter to Theodore I will argue in my next book that the Secret Gospel is all about the Throne of St. Mark and the Papacy. Here's the start of my defense of the authenticity of Morton Smith's discovery.

2. Was our New Testament Established in the Court of the Wicked Emperor Commodus? You be the judge ...

1. Did Christianity Get Its Start in Alexandria? I think so. I doubt you even considered the idea. Maybe you should read this article.

And let me add another. A basic but critical discussion of why Jesus never used the title messiah to refer to himself.

Happy reading ...
